🌱 Grow Together — Community Garden Initiative

Fundraising goal: R44 000

R44,000 (covers training programme + garden setup infrastructure)

Food grows where care is planted.

Dr. Phil-afel Foundation runs a community garden and permaculture training initiative in Hanover Park and surrounding areas — partnering with Soil for Life to deliver quality training to community members who want to grow their own food sustainably.

We train groups of 15 at a time. Previous participants have come from Hanover Park, Kalk Bay, Muizenberg, and other community sites including Where Rainbows Meet. Graduates of the programme are equipped with practical permaculture knowledge they can apply immediately in their own spaces.

Beyond the training, we are now working to establish and restore a working garden in the Hanover Park area with those who have already completed the programme. This requires fencing, a water supply solution (tank, borehole, or connected supply), quality soil, gardening tools and equipment, and ongoing support. This is the infrastructure that makes the training real.

A community garden is about more than food. It is about skill, dignity, sustainability, and shared ownership of something that grows for the long term.

Dr. Phil-afel Foundation is Section 18A approved. Donations are tax deductible, and certificates are issued on request.
