🧒 Give a Child a Bigger World — ECD & Children's Programme

It starts with the children.

Dr. Phil-afel Foundation's ECD and Children's Programme supports children from the Hanover Park community through enriching, supervised experiences that expose them to more of the world around them. We work with around 45 to 60 children overall, and this campaign is costed around a minimum working group of 15 children per outing so that the programme remains practical and sustainable.

Each month, we aim to take children on educational and developmental outings to places they would not otherwise easily access — nature reserves, educational centres, museums, art galleries, marine centres, and cultural sites. These outings are about more than a day out. They build confidence, curiosity, belonging, and a wider sense of what is possible.

We also previously ran weekly in-community ECD sessions. These have paused due to lack of funding. This campaign helps us continue monthly outings while also working toward reinstating those weekly sessions with proper support.

Cost breakdown for one fully supported outing (15 children): Transport R700 (one van) · Snacks, lunch and drinks R1,200 · Facilitation stipends, entrance fees, materials and admin R1,100+ · Total up to R6,000 per outing. Our base goal is at least one outing per month, with two outings per month as the target when funding allows.

Dr. Phil-afel Foundation is Section 18A approved. Donations are tax deductible, and certificates are issued on request.
